Hardware features

The hardware features that keep networks running.

Industrial-grade enclosures, dual internet connectivity, high-availability pairs, bank-style dual-firewall topologies, swap warranty for the life of the contract. The features below are why customers stop worrying about whether the firewall is going to wake up tomorrow.

Industrial enclosure

Hardened to run for years.

Every VectorLogic appliance starts with hardened embedded hardware engineered for continuous-duty operation — not consumer hardware rebadged for the office. The kind of gear that quietly does its job through summer heat, winter cold, brownouts, and the rest of real-world conditions.

  • Solid-state storage on every model — no spinning disks to fail
  • ECC memory on Pro tier and above for real-time error correction
  • Vetted thermal performance under sustained 100% load
  • Fanless designs on small models for silent, dust-resistant operation
  • Industrial-grade power input with surge tolerance
  • Designed for years of continuous duty, not consumer refresh cycles

Dual internet connections

Two ISPs, one outcome — you stay up.

V-4 and above support dual internet connections out of the box. Use them as failover (one ISP fails, you keep working without anyone noticing) or as aggregation (combine both for more total bandwidth on busy days).

  • Failover mode: primary ISP dies, traffic shifts to secondary in seconds
  • Aggregation mode: both ISPs running — combined bandwidth, balanced load
  • Mixed mode: different traffic types routed by ISP for cost or quality
  • Health-checked at the firewall level — not just “is the cable plugged in”
  • Configurable failback rules so you control when to flip back
  • Logged at the watching layer so you see ISP issues as they happen

High-availability pairs

One firewall fails. The backup takes over. Users do not notice.

V-6 and V-Pro support warm-backup high-availability pairs. Two firewalls running side by side, one active, one standing by. If the primary fails — power supply, port, anything — the backup takes over inside seconds without dropping live connections.

  • Active / standby configuration with sub-second failover
  • Configuration synced continuously between primary and backup
  • Live connection state preserved through the failover — calls do not drop
  • Either unit can be primary — failover works in both directions
  • Watched independently — we know which unit is active and which is standby
  • Used for organizations where downtime costs more than the second box

Bank-style dual firewall + DMZ

The defense-in-depth design banks have used for decades.

For higher-trust environments — insurance agencies, financial-services SMBs, healthcare-adjacent businesses — V-Pro supports a two-firewall topology with a demilitarized zone (DMZ) between the public internet and the internal network. The outside firewall faces the world; the inside firewall guards the network proper; the DMZ is where carefully-controlled services live.

  • Outside firewall handles all internet-facing traffic
  • DMZ houses any externally-reachable service (web, email relay, customer portal)
  • Inside firewall isolates the internal network — even if the outside is breached
  • The same engineering banks have used since the 1990s, modernized
  • Powerful answer to “show your work” on cyber-insurance renewal questionnaires
  • With our hardware, no longer the enterprise-only price tag it used to be

Warranty & replacement

Hardware fails. The replacement is already on its way.

Every active service plan includes return-to-depot warranty replacement for the life of the contract. Hardware fails — usually a power supply or a port — and we are watching, so we know about it before you do. We ship a configured replacement device. You ship the failed unit back at our cost.

  • Standard swap warranty included with every plan, every model
  • Return-to-depot — we ship out, you ship back, no charges
  • Configuration preserved through the swap — no re-setup work
  • Most replacements complete inside 48 hours of confirmed failure
  • Extended 3-year and 5-year warranty options available at order time
  • HA pairs minimize downtime to seconds even before the swap arrives
